Handcrafted or Mass Produced & Why It Matters.

If you've ever shopped for dog accessories, you've probably seen words like handmade, handcrafted, and artisan. They sound wonderful, and they should. But not every product is made the same way.
One of my favorite parts of designing for LOVEDOG is that every collection starts long before the first stitch. I personally choose every fabric, and my design partner Rebecca and I spend countless hours thinking through every detail, from how a product should function to how it should feel in your hands. We don't create products just to add something new. We design them because we believe we can make something better.
One thing you'll notice about true craftsmanship is that it doesn't always look exactly like a mass-produced product...and that's okay.
We wrap our hardware in real fabric instead of using printed webbing. That means our products are built differently from the inside out. Those extra layers of fabric add strength, softness, and dimension, which can affect everything from the thickness of a strap to the hardware we choose. They are meticulous and thoughtful design decisions that support the way the product is actually made.
We don't believe handcrafted products should imitate mass production. We believe they should celebrate meaning and thoughtful design
The truth is, we both fall in love with every product we create. I know every fabric by heart because I chose it. We know why every design looks the way it does because there was intention behind each decision.
Every piece leaves our studio carrying a little bit of our hearts with it. We can only hope they all find dogs and families to love them as much as we love creating them.
That's the difference small batch handcrafted design makes.
